The Crane Stand

The story of The Crane Stand began on a bar napkin in the SoDo district of Seattle, when in March of 2007 Garett Fitzpatrick and Rob Noble were chatting over a beer about the lack of quality laptop stands on the market. Soon the napkin was filled with sketches of ideas and they called a good friend, Morgan Featherston, a master welder and craftsman who began working on mockups of what was to become The Crane Stand.

The very first Crane Stand was built out of powder-coated steel with the help of an aeronautical engineer and designer Brandon Wilke. The Stand was first released at Decibel Festival 2008 in Seattle and received an overwhelmingly positive response from the music community, which led to mass production and a private label deal with Moog, a large Canadian dealer.

After considering constructive feedback from the electronic arts community, The Crane Stand V.2 was released at Decibel Festival 2009. The good-looking, lightweight aluminum Crane Stand V.2 can slide under a mixer, adjust to infinite positions and has no loose pieces to misplace. Manufactured in-house from scratch, The Crane Stand is now the most versatile, portable and well-built laptop stand on the market.

Most bar napkin dreams never leave the table, but the CRANE crew made theirs happen and is still pushing forward product developments, including the release of a line of accessories in 2010. Most importantly, Crane continues to offer the highest quality product with the most efficient and sustainable practices as well as a profound commitment to customer service. We hope you enjoy your Crane Stand as much as we have enjoyed the ride.

CRANE would like to thank the many supporters whose invaluable contributions, constructive criticism and strong support helped the company become what it is today.

A special thank you to Zach Stone and Mike May of the Rane Corporation, Mike Hurley, Michael Manahan, Dean’s Specialty Welding, friends, family, and most of all you: the customer, for playing an integral role in the success of The Crane Stand.

Thank you,

The CRANE Crew
